Description

A Christmas tree blown in recycled glass and standing 15cm tall: three conical tiers stacked one on the next, each stepping in from the one below, under a small pointed cone at the top, all of it rising from a short cylindrical foot. The gold is not even across the piece. The upper two tiers carry a fine dark web of crackle running right through them, while the bottom tier is mottled and speckled in denser gold and rust.

Fifteen centimetres puts this on a shelf or a table rather than on the floor, and at 0.8kg it stands among other things without being knocked about. Light from behind or from the side is what shows the crackle, because the web sits within the glass rather than on the surface of it. Stood beside the 20cm Konara the two make a stepped pair.

The glass is recycled and each tree is blown by hand, so the tiers step at slightly different intervals and the crackle runs its own way on every one. Konara carries this tree at 20cm as well, and the same gold crackle appears on a set of four baubles and on a giant bauble in two sizes.
