Konara Small Giant Glass Bauble - Gold Crackle

A glass bauble 15cm across, blown from recycled glass and finished with a metal foil that crackles as it sets. The gold is banded rather than even: matt across the top of the sphere, then a crackled paler band, then a clearer section below it. A brass cap is fixed at the top with a wire loop through it.

Fifteen centimetres is bauble scale only in name. Hung alone from a hook it reads as an object rather than a decoration, and the crackle scatters the highlight instead of returning it in one point. On a tree it wants an inner branch.

The glass is recycled: waste glass collected, washed, crushed and melted down before it is mouth-blown, which is where the mottling under the foil comes from. The cap is brass. A 20cm Konara giant bauble runs alongside it, and a set of four 8cm Konara baubles.

How big is it?

15cm across.

How does it hang?

By a wire loop through the brass cap.

What makes the crackle?

A metal foil that breaks as it sets over the glass.

What else is made in Konara?

A 20cm giant bauble, a set of four 8cm baubles, and a glass tree in two sizes.

How do I look after it?

A dry soft cloth for dust, and careful handling. Keep harsh chemicals and abrasive cleaners off the finish, and use it indoors only.
