Description

The medium Konara is 13cm tall and 13cm across, mouth-blown from recycled glass, with a base that curves under and sides that lift almost straight to a plain rim. A mottled copper finish covers the upper part of the wall and stops on an uneven line, and below it the glass is smoky grey and covered all over in a fine crackle. The copper lies thickest near the rim and breaks up as it goes down.

Thirteen centimetres of wall above a tealight puts the flame well down inside the glass, so what carries across a room is the glow through the crackle rather than the flame itself. That suits a mantelpiece, a sideboard or a hall table, where the holder is seen from the side rather than from above. All three Konara sizes cluster together, each taking a tealight.

The glass is recycled. Waste glass is collected and washed to remove impurities, then crushed and melted down before it is mouth-blown into a mould, and the copper is applied to the upper part of the holder afterwards. Konara also runs at 9cm and 16cm, each as wide as it is tall. The tealight is not included.

Frequently Asked

How big is it?

13cm tall and 13cm across. It is the middle of the three Konara sizes.

What candle does it take?

A tealight, standing on the base of the glass.

What are the other sizes?

9cm and 16cm, each as wide as it is tall.

Is the glass recycled?

Yes. Waste glass is collected and washed to remove impurities, then crushed and melted down before it is mouth-blown into a mould.

How do I look after it?

A dry soft cloth for dust, and careful handling. Keep harsh chemicals and abrasive cleaners off the finish. Position the tealight securely and keep the flame clear of the glass. It gets hot in use, so keep it out of reach of children, wait until it has cooled fully before handling it, and never leave a burning candle unattended.
