Description

A pair of open wire baskets, each 17cm high on a footprint of 29 by 39cm. The sides are built from close set horizontal iron wires strung between uprights, with the corners bound by wire wrapped in a tight coil and a heavier wire framing the top edge. A rectangular opening is left in each short end to take a hand. The floor is a slatted mango wood board, pale and honey toned, and small wooden blocks under it lift the basket off the surface.

Open sides mean the contents do the labelling: onions and garlic on a worktop, lemons and limes beside a chopping board, folded towels in a bathroom, cables in a hall. They stack one on the other, so the pair takes the footprint of one where space is short. The wooden feet hold the base a little clear of the surface.

The frame is iron and the base is mango wood, a slatted board set down inside the wire rather than fixed across the bottom of it. The wire is left a dull grey brown with a warm cast to it rather than polished bright, and the wood is pale with the grain running through. Two baskets come in the set.
