Description
The Knightsbridge smart contact sensor is a two-piece magnetic door and window monitor that connects directly to 2.4GHz Wi-Fi networks and sends instant open/close alerts to the SmartKnight app on iOS and Android devices. The sensor requires no separate hub or gateway device — it communicates directly with your router and operates on a single CR2 battery (included) with an expected lifespan of up to one year based on 20 activations per day.
Designed for entry monitoring in homes, offices and rental properties, the sensor fits onto door frames, window frames and cabinet doors using the included adhesive pads. The main sensor body measures 64 x 30 x 22mm, with a smaller 22mm magnet piece that sits on the moving part of the door or window. When the gap between the two pieces exceeds approximately 15mm, the sensor registers an open state and triggers an app notification in real time, whether you are in the building or away.
The sensor integrates with other SmartKnight-compatible devices through the app, allowing automation routines such as turning on a light when a door opens after dark or sending an alert if a window opens while the system is armed. Wi-Fi range is up to 40m from the router depending on wall construction and interference. The polycarbonate housing carries an IP20 rating, suitable for indoor use in dry locations. A low battery warning appears in the app when the CR2 requires replacement.
The sensor connects only to 2.4GHz Wi-Fi networks — it does not support 5GHz bands. Most dual-band routers broadcast both frequencies, but you may need to check your router settings to ensure the 2.4GHz band is active and visible during setup. Once paired, the sensor remains connected until the battery is depleted or the device is manually removed from the app.

Frequently Asked
Does this sensor need a hub or gateway?
No. The sensor connects directly to your 2.4GHz Wi-Fi network and communicates with the SmartKnight app without requiring a separate hub device. You will need a compatible smartphone and a working 2.4GHz Wi-Fi connection.
How long does the battery last?
The included CR2 battery is rated for up to one year based on 20 door or window openings per day. Actual lifespan depends on activation frequency, Wi-Fi signal strength and ambient temperature. The app displays a low battery warning when replacement is needed.
Can I use this on windows and doors?
Yes. The sensor works on any hinged or sliding door, window or cabinet where you can mount the two pieces within 15mm of each other when closed. Both pieces attach with adhesive pads, so no drilling is required unless you prefer screw mounting.
Why won't it connect to my Wi-Fi?
The sensor only supports 2.4GHz Wi-Fi networks — it will not connect to 5GHz bands. If your router is dual-band, ensure the 2.4GHz band is enabled and broadcasting. Some routers combine both bands under a single network name, which can cause pairing issues. Consult your router manual to separate the bands or temporarily disable 5GHz during setup.
