Description

The Knightsbridge 72mm bi-metal holesaw combines a high-speed steel cutting edge with a spring steel body, creating a 72mm diameter cutting tool with 4/6 TPI variable teeth and a 38mm cutting depth. The variable tooth pitch alternates between 4 teeth per inch and 6 teeth per inch along the cutting edge, reducing vibration and improving cut quality across different material densities.

Designed for electrical installation, downlight fitting and general trade work, the holesaw cuts through steel, stainless steel, die-cast metals, hardwood floors, plywood and plastics. The 72mm diameter matches the cut-out requirement for many recessed downlights, LED panels and electrical back boxes. The bi-metal construction allows the cutting edge to stay sharp through repeated cuts in metal while the body retains enough flex to resist cracking under torque.

The yellow powder-coated finish identifies the holesaw quickly in a toolbox and provides corrosion resistance during storage. The 38mm cutting depth handles most ceiling void depths and wall thicknesses encountered in residential and commercial installation. The holesaw requires arbor HSARBORL (sold separately) to mount to a standard drill chuck.

Frequently Asked

What materials can this holesaw cut?

The bi-metal construction cuts steel, stainless steel, die-cast metals, hardwood floors, plywood and plastics. The variable 4/6 TPI tooth pitch handles both soft materials like plywood and harder materials like stainless steel without requiring a tooth change.

What arbor does it need?

This holesaw requires arbor HSARBORL to mount to a drill chuck. The arbor is sold separately and includes the pilot drill bit that centres the holesaw during the initial cut.

What's the maximum material thickness it can cut?

The 38mm cutting depth is the maximum material thickness the holesaw can cut in a single pass. Thicker materials require cutting from both sides or using a deeper-cut holesaw.

How do I stop the holesaw binding in metal?

Use cutting fluid or light oil when cutting steel or stainless steel to reduce heat buildup and friction. Run the drill at a slower speed (300-500 RPM) for metal compared to wood, and apply steady pressure without forcing the cut.
