Description
The Knightsbridge 65mm bi-metal holesaw features a bi-metal construction with 4/6 TPI variable teeth designed to cut through steel, stainless steel, die-cast metals, hardwood floors, plywood and plastics. The variable tooth pitch (4 teeth per inch transitioning to 6 teeth per inch) reduces vibration and extends blade life when cutting harder materials, while the bi-metal edge combines high-speed steel cutting teeth welded to a spring steel body that resists cracking under torsional stress.
Designed for electricians fitting 65mm recessed downlight housings, extraction fan ducting, and socket back boxes, the holesaw cuts to a depth of 38mm in a single pass when used with the compatible HSARBORL arbor (sold separately). The 65mm diameter produces the exact cut-out required for standard 65mm recessed fittings common in UK electrical and lighting installation. The holesaw body includes elongated slots that allow cuttings and swarf to clear during drilling, preventing binding and overheating.
The high-speed steel teeth maintain their edge through repeated cuts in mild steel up to 3mm thick, stainless steel sheet, aluminium plate and hardwood joists. The yellow powder-coated body helps identify the tool in a toolbox and provides corrosion resistance when stored in damp site conditions. The holesaw fits standard 1/2-inch arbors with a hex shank drive, compatible with most cordless drills rated at 18V or higher when cutting softer materials, though mains-powered drills are recommended for steel and stainless steel to maintain consistent torque.

Frequently Asked
Does this holesaw include an arbor?
No. The holesaw body is supplied on its own and requires the HSARBORL arbor (sold separately) to mount it to a drill. The arbor includes the pilot drill bit, hex shank and threaded collar that secures the holesaw during cutting.
What materials can it cut?
The bi-metal construction handles steel sheet up to 3mm, stainless steel, die-cast metals, aluminium, hardwood floors, plywood and plastics. The 4/6 TPI variable teeth are optimised for metal cutting but also work through timber joists and composite boards.
What drill power is needed?
A cordless drill rated at 18V or higher will handle softer materials like plywood and plastics. For steel and stainless steel, a mains-powered drill is recommended to maintain consistent torque through the cut and prevent stalling.
How deep does it cut?
The holesaw has a 38mm cutting depth, which means it will cut through materials up to 38mm thick in a single pass without needing to cut from both sides.
