Description

The Knightsbridge SN1500 is a 25mm-deep double pattress box in white thermoset resin with square edges, designed as a surface-mount back box for 2-gang switches, sockets and accessories. The box measures 146mm wide by 86mm high and projects 30mm from the wall once fixed, giving a total installation depth of 25mm available for cable runs and terminal connections behind the faceplate.

Built for residential, commercial and industrial installations where flush mounting is not possible or practical, the box suits applications on stud walls, brick exteriors, workshops and retrofits where surface wiring is exposed. The square edge profile pairs specifically with Knightsbridge's Square Edge (SN) range of screwless faceplates, which clip onto the raised outer rim for a defined geometric finish. The box is also compatible with standard screw-fixed plates from any manufacturer.

The thermoset resin construction resists impact better than standard ABS plastic and carries anti-microbial properties tested to ISO 22196:2011, reducing bacterial growth on the surface in clinical, catering and high-hygiene environments. The IP20 rating confirms the box is suitable for dry indoor use only. Two brass fixing lugs at top and bottom accept wood screws or wall plugs for masonry. No earth terminal is fitted, so earthing must be handled at the accessory level.

No. Earthing must be handled at the accessory level, either through a metal faceplate with an earth terminal or via the accessory's own earth connection point.

Can this be used outdoors?

No. The IP20 rating confirms the box is suitable for dry indoor use only. For outdoor surface mounting, look for boxes rated IP54 or higher.
