Kiwanda Wide Glass Lantern - Antique Brass

A long low glazed box in antique brass, 42cm across the front and 24cm tall, with a shallow hood arched from front to back over the top of it. The corner posts are rounded rather than square, all four sides are clear glass, and the end panel is hinged as a door with a small wire loop to hold it shut. It stands on a solid metal plinth, and the floor inside is a plain plate of the same metal.

Twenty-four centimetres is low enough to sit on a laid table without cutting the view across it, which the 40cm Kiwanda would. A pillar candle stands on the metal floor inside, set toward the middle of the 42cm run. Glass on all four sides puts the flame in view from any side, and with no handle the lantern stays where it is set down.

The four panels are glass and everything else is iron. The antique brass sits unevenly across the pressed hood and darkens in the seams, and the plinth carries the same finish. Kiwanda also runs as a tall lantern, 40cm high on the same 42cm front. The candle is not included.

How big is it?

42cm across, 24cm tall and 18cm deep.

What candle does it take?

A pillar candle, standing on the metal floor inside. There is no socket, so the diameter is open to you.

How does it open?

The end panel is hinged as a door, held shut by a small wire loop.

Is there a taller shape?

Yes. Kiwanda also runs as a tall lantern, 40cm high on the same 42cm front.

Can it go outside?

No. Indoor use only.

How do I look after it?

A soft dry cloth over the metal, and a microfibre cloth in a circular motion on the glass. Warm water with a mild dish soap will take off wax; dry it straight away and do not leave it to soak. It gets hot in use, so let it cool fully before handling it and never leave a burning candle unattended.
