Description
The portrait version of the extra large Kiko, 36cm high and 29cm wide. Two sheets of glass hold the picture between them, edged all round with a narrow band of brass in an antique finish. The corners are soldered rather than mitred, so every join carries the mark of the tool that made it. A ring sits at each top corner and a printed sari tie is knotted through both.
It hangs on a single nail, with the tie rising above the frame in a triangle, so the frame sits below the fixing rather than flat against it. Upright and 36cm tall, it takes one portrait print, a page lifted out of a book or a pressed stem, and because there is glass on both faces the wall behind shows through wherever the paper stops short. Frames from this range hang together above a sideboard in mixed sizes, each on a different coloured tie.
Glass and brass, and a tie cut from recycled sari fabric that is different on every frame, so no two are alike. The same extra large frame is made on the landscape axis, and Kiko runs down through smaller sizes to a 4 by 6 inch aperture. Nothing is supplied to go inside it.

Frequently Asked
Which way up does it hang?
Portrait, taller than it is wide: 36cm high and 29cm across.
What holds the picture in?
Two sheets of glass, with the picture between them. There is no mount, so the wall shows through wherever the paper stops short.
Is it made in landscape?
Yes. The same extra large frame is made on the landscape axis.
What is the hanging tie?
Recycled sari fabric, knotted through a ring at each top corner. Every tie is one of a kind.
How should it be looked after?
Dust it regularly with a soft, dry cloth, and use a microfibre cloth on the glass, working in a circular motion.
