Kiko 5 x 7 Arch Portrait Photo Frame - Antique Brass

An arch topped picture frame in brass, 17.5cm tall and 13cm wide, made from two panes of glass held in a slim soldered brass channel. The arch runs across the top and the bottom corners are square. There is glass on both faces, so whatever goes inside shows against the wall behind it rather than against a backing board. A small brass hook on one side holds the two panes shut, and the frame hangs from a printed strap in dark pink and purple, looped through a ring at each shoulder. The brass carries the weld marks left where the metal was joined.

The frame takes a 5 by 7 inch picture and hangs on a wall rather than standing on a surface. Because both faces are glass, anything cut smaller than the opening floats with the wall showing round it.

The frame is recycled glass and iron under an antique brass finish. The metal is soldered around the glass with traditional tools, and the weld marks on each join are what that process leaves behind. The Kiko arch frame is also made at 8 by 10 inches and in an extra large size.

What size picture does it take?

5 by 7 inches. The frame itself is 17.5cm tall and 13cm wide.

Does it stand on a shelf?

No. It hangs, from the strap fitted through a ring at each shoulder.

Is there a back to it?

No. There is glass on both faces, so the print sits between two panes and the wall shows through anywhere the print does not reach.

Can it hold pressed flowers?

Yes. It takes pressed fronds and small botanical prints between the panes.

Why are there marks on the joins?

The metal is soldered around the glass by hand with traditional tools, and the weld marks are left from that.

How do I look after it?

Wipe it regularly with a soft dry cloth to prevent dust or dirt building up, and use a microfibre cloth in a circular motion on the glass.
