Kiara Organic Shape Ceramic Pendant Light - Antique Brass

The Kiara is a wide shallow cone in matt white ceramic, hung from a brass collar on a brass chain. The cone is thrown rather than pressed, so the wall thickness varies slightly and the rim runs in a soft wave rather than a true circle. The surface is unglazed and chalky on the outside; lit, the inside glows warm through it and the uneven rim shows as a line of light. It measures 30cm across and 18.7cm deep.

A solid ceramic cone does what a glass one cannot: it sends everything downward in a defined circle and gives nothing to the ceiling, so a row of them over a kitchen table or an island puts light exactly where it is wanted and leaves the rest of the room to something else. At 30cm across and only 18.7cm deep it hangs without dominating, and the cord runs 1m, which is short and suits a low fixed drop. It takes one E27 bulb up to 25W and it is dimmable. It is rated IP20, for dry indoor rooms.

The shade is ceramic and the collar and chain are brass. Each cone is made individually, so the rim, the thickness and the exact white differ from one to the next. Bulbs are not included.

Can I hang several in a row?

Yes, and at 30cm across that is what the shape is for. Over an island or a long table a row of cones puts a defined circle of light under each one.

Does it light the ceiling?

No. The ceramic is solid, so everything goes down through the open rim.

How long is the cord?

1m, which is shorter than most of the pendants here. Check it against your ceiling height before ordering.

Why is the rim uneven?

Each cone is made by hand, so the rim runs in a soft wave rather than a true circle. Lit, that shows as a slightly irregular line of light around the edge.

How do I clean it?

Switch it off and let it cool, then a soft dry cloth. The outside is unglazed, so keep it away from anything wet or oily, which will mark it.
