Description

The Khidki is a pair of nesting side tables, each one a cast aluminium frame in an antique brass finish carrying a round glass top. Three tapered legs rise from a flat circular ring at the floor and meet the rim that holds the glass. The casting is left rough, so the surface is pitted all over and the tone shifts from a pale gold on the high edges to a deep brown in the hollows. The tops are dark glass with a slow ripple running across them.

The taller table stands 54cm with a top 46cm across, which puts it level with the arm of most sofas. The smaller one is lower and narrower and tucks under the taller one, so pushed together the pair takes up one table worth of floor. They stand beside a sofa with the small table drawn out in front of the large one, and the open frames let a rug show through underneath.

The frames are sandcast. Molten aluminium is poured into a sand mould, which is what leaves the pitted surface and makes no two quite the same, and the legs run into the base ring without a visible joint. The tops are sandcast glass as well, smooth on the face with soft wave-like textures and the occasional air bubble held inside. The set weighs 18.78kg.

Frequently Asked

Do the two tables nest?

Yes. The smaller one tucks under the taller one, and pushed together they take up the floor space of a single table.

How tall are they?

The published size is 54cm high with a top 46cm across. The second table is lower and narrower.

What are they made from?

Sandcast aluminium frames under an antique brass finish, with sandcast glass tops.

Is the glass toughened?

Yes.

Are they sold singly?

No. They come as a pair.

How do I look after them?

Wipe the surfaces regularly with a soft dry cloth to lift dust and moisture. Do not stand hot objects on the glass. Use coasters and mats, and take care with cutlery, pens and anything else sharp, which can score the surface.
