Description

A long bench, 125cm across, 43cm high and 38cm deep, with an upholstered kilim top on a slim square-section iron frame. The kilim is flat woven and coarse, in a natural ground carrying rows of small stepped diamonds and crosses in muted sage green, rust and charcoal, with a darker line meandering along the length. The pad is deep buttoned, so the surface dimples between the tufts. The metal reads as a warm brass tone rather than black.

At 125cm long and 38cm deep the bench is narrow. It is made for a hallway or the end of a bed. There is no stretcher between the legs, so the space underneath stays clear. It weighs 13kg.

The frame is iron and the top is a hemp kilim, woven on a traditional handloom. The weaver interlaces the warp, which runs the length, with the weft, which runs the width, and works the pattern from memory rather than from a drawing. The Kesu range also holds a kilim pouffe.
