Description
A clear glass shade sitting into a turned mango wood base, 20cm tall and 20cm across. The glass is blown into a mould: wide and rounded low down, drawn in to a waist and opening again into a flared rim at the top. The base is a stack of turned forms, a shallow bowl that the glass drops into over a collar ring, standing on a flared foot cut with close vertical reeding. Inside, a separate turned wooden dish sits in the bottom of the glass and takes the candle.
The shade is open at the top, so a pillar candle can be lit and put out with the glass where it is. At 20cm tall and 20cm across the base it stands as a table centre or on a sideboard, and clear glass keeps the flame in view from every side rather than throwing it onto one wall.
The glass is recycled, hand blown into a mould, and the base is mango wood cut from trees once they have stopped bearing fruit. The dark ash stain is an alternative to the natural mango finish, and the grain shows through it, so no two bases carry the same figure. The candle is not included.

Frequently Asked
What candle does it take?
A pillar candle, standing on the wooden dish inside the glass.
Does the glass come out?
Yes. It sits into the bowl of the wooden base rather than being fixed to it.
How big is it?
20cm tall and 20cm across the base.
Is the glass recycled?
Yes. The waste glass is collected and washed to remove impurities, then crushed and melted down before it is blown into a mould.
Is the wood treated?
It carries a dark stain, which is an alternative to the natural mango wood finish.
How do I look after it?
A soft dry cloth over the wood, and a microfibre cloth in a circular motion on the glass. Warm water with a mild dish soap will take off wax; dry it straight away and do not leave it to soak. It gets hot in use, so let it cool fully before handling it and never leave a burning candle unattended.
