Kaso Large Glass Lantern - Aged Antique Brass

The Kaso large stands 65cm tall on the same 17cm square base as the small, so the proportion is tall and narrow. Four clear glass panels sit in a metal frame finished in aged antique brass, and one of them is hinged as a door held by a small wire loop. The hood above is a shallow arch pressed from sheet metal with a round vent at its crown, and a deep arched handle is hinged into it. Inside, the floor is a plain metal plate and the frame stands on four short corner feet.

A pillar candle stands on that metal floor rather than dropping into a socket, so the diameter is open. At 65cm the flame sits at about the height of a dining chair back, which puts this one on the floor beside a hearth, at the end of a hall or either side of a door rather than on a table, where it would stand in the line of sight across. The handle takes a whole hand and carries it from room to room. Stood next to the 45cm Kaso, the two read as one shape at two heights.

The panels are glass in an iron frame. The brass is left rustic, so it sits unevenly over the metal, darker in the hollows of the pressing than on the flat, and patchy across the hood. Kaso also runs at 45cm on the same square base. The candle is not included.

Can it go outside?

No. Indoor use only.

How do I look after it?

A soft dry cloth over the metal, and a microfibre cloth in a circular motion on the glass. Warm water with a mild dish soap will take off wax; dry it straight away and do not leave it to soak. It gets hot in use, so let it cool fully before handling it and never leave a burning candle unattended.
