Description

The Karuma cereal bowl is 15cm across and 5.5cm deep, made in white clay and glazed. The inside and the rim are plain cream. The outside is worked with fine vertical lines in deep blue, etched and painted by hand, running up from the foot and stopping at different heights partway up the wall, so the blue thins out towards the rim rather than ending in a band.

It holds 550ml, which is a bowl for cereal, porridge or a pudding. At 5.5cm deep the sides are low and open rather than steep, and at 15cm across it sits easily in one hand. They stack one inside another for storage.

The bowl is white clay under a glaze, made by hand, with the lines etched and painted one at a time. Because that is done by hand the spacing and the length of the strokes differ from bowl to bowl and the blue falls heavier on some than on others. The Karuma range runs to mugs, side and dinner plates, a serving bowl, two jugs and a twelve-piece dinner set.

Frequently Asked

How much does it hold?

550ml. It is 15cm across and 5.5cm deep.

Is it dishwasher safe?

Yes, and it is food safe.

Will every bowl look the same?

Not exactly. The lines are painted by hand, so their spacing and how far they run up the bowl differ from one to the next.

Is it sold singly?

Yes. This is one bowl.

How do I look after it?

Wash it after every use so it does not stain, using a mild detergent, and do not leave it to soak. Handle it carefully: a knock against a hard edge can chip the glaze.
