Description

A Christmas stocking 52cm long and 30cm across the foot, made in cotton velvet in a deep mocha brown with a wide band of natural linen turned down over the top. The leg tapers and the foot turns forward in a broad rounded toe. A narrow loop of the same velvet is stitched behind the cuff, which is what it hangs by.

Fifty two centimetres is a full length stocking rather than a decoration, and the mouth stays open under the folded cuff so a parcel can stand up out of it. It hangs from a mantel hook. It weighs 0.145kg empty, so the hook carries the contents rather than the stocking.

The stocking is cotton velvet with a linen cuff. The velvet is crushed, so the brown runs lighter where the pile lies flat and close to black where it stands against itself, and no two stockings carry that the same way. Karru runs the stocking in forest green, indigo and red as well, with a matching sack and a set of three mini stockings in rich mocha.
