Description

A Christmas stocking 52cm long and 30cm across the foot, in a cotton velvet dark enough to read as black until the light catches the pile and turns it a deep blue. A wide band of open weave natural linen is turned down over the top, and a narrow tab of the same linen is stitched behind it, which is what the stocking hangs by.

Fifty two centimetres is a full length stocking rather than a decoration, and the pale linen band is what holds the shape apart from a dark wall behind a mantel. Empty it weighs 0.145kg, so the hook takes the weight of what goes into it rather than of the stocking.

The body is cotton velvet and the band and tab are linen, both woven and stitched by hand. The velvet is crushed, so the colour runs from near black in the pile to a clear blue along the folds, and no two stockings carry it the same way. Karru runs the stocking in rich mocha, forest green and red as well, with a set of three mini stockings in indigo.
