Description
The Kanz chest of drawers is a low, wide mango wood chest, 120cm across and 79cm tall, with six drawers set two abreast in three rows. Each drawer front is a solid mango frame filled with a closely woven cane panel, and each carries one small round brass knob at its centre. The top is a plain slab of mango, the sides are solid boards, and the whole chest stands clear of the floor on four short square legs.
At 120cm wide it wants a long wall, and it gives a flat top of 120 by 45cm at 79cm from the floor, which is about dining table height and a little below a kitchen worktop, so a lamp, a tray and a leaning mirror all sit on it comfortably. Six drawers divide the storage into small parcels rather than two or three deep ones, which suits folded clothes in a bedroom or gloves, keys and post in a hallway. It weighs 43.9kg empty.
The frame, the top and the drawer boxes are solid mango wood and the drawer fronts are filled with woven cane. Mango is cut for timber only once the trees have stopped bearing fruit, and the grain is left plainly in view across the top and sides, so the tone shifts from board to board. The Kanz range also holds a wardrobe, a tall boy chest, a bedside table and a writing desk.

Frequently Asked
How many drawers does it have?
Six, set two abreast in three rows.
What are the drawer fronts made of?
Solid mango wood frames filled with woven cane panels, each with a small round brass knob.
Is the cane on every drawer?
Yes. All six fronts carry a woven cane panel.
How big is it?
120cm wide, 79cm tall and 45cm deep. It weighs 43.9kg.
How do I look after it?
Rub an edible oil such as olive or walnut oil into the surface with a cloth to nourish the wood, though this may darken the tone. Blot any spillage immediately with a dry cloth and do not use chemical cleaners. The colour of the wood will change over time.
