Description

The Kando P/76 is an outdoor floor lamp shaped like a lantern: a cylinder of sand-coloured nautical cord held within a three-legged teak wood frame, with a dark round lid on top and a wooden handle running across above it. Its finish is Brown & Teak Sand Nautical Cord, and it is made from aluminium, teak wood, nautical cord and polycarbonate. It is 49cm across. The light is an integrated LED giving 652lm, so there is no bulb to buy or change, and when it is lit the glow comes through the gaps in the cord and falls in a soft pool on the ground around its feet.

It is rated IP44, which makes it suitable for outdoor use, so it can stand on a terrace, beside a garden bench or at the edge of a patio for long summer evenings. The same lantern shape sits just as comfortably in a living room, next to a sofa or in a quiet corner that wants a gentle glow rather than a bright overhead light. At 49cm across it has real presence on the floor, and we think it looks best with a little space around it, whether on its own or as a pair either side of a door or a seating area.

The cord is wound in close vertical runs around the shade, and the teak frame is joined with neat fixings at each corner, with slim cross bars forming a three-pointed base.
