Description

The Kando P/111 is a tall floor lamp in the shape of a lantern: a cylinder of pleated Cream Translucent Ribbon held inside an open, three-legged frame of teak wood, with a dark disc capping the top of the shade. The structure is Brown, and the whole lamp stands 111cm tall and 49cm across, so it has real presence in a room without crowding it. The light comes from an integrated LED giving 1415lm, which means there is no bulb to buy or fit, and the ribbon spreads that light into an even glow that runs down the length of the pleats.

We see this as a floor lamp for the living room. Stand it beside a sofa or an armchair, in an empty corner, or at either end of a sideboard, and the shade becomes a soft column of light that sets the mood for an evening as much as it lights the room. At 111cm it stands well above seat height, so it works by a favourite chair as well as for general light. The open frame keeps it looking airy from every side, which helps where it stands out in the room rather than against a wall. It is rated IP20, so it is for dry rooms only.

It is made of aluminium, teak wood, ribbon and polycarbonate. The teak wood uprights are joined by slim crossbars at the top and by three spokes at the foot that meet beneath the shade, and the Cream Translucent Ribbon is pleated finely from top to bottom.
