Description

The Kando M/40 is a lantern-style table lamp: a pleated cylinder shade in White Translucent Ribbon, held inside an open three-legged frame with a Brown structure and a dark round disc across the top. Slim cross pieces join the uprights at the top and at the foot, meeting at the centre, so the shade sits suspended within its own frame. It stands 40cm tall and 22.5cm across, a compact size for a bedside table or sideboard. The light comes from an integrated LED giving 369 lumens through the translucent ribbon, so there is no bulb to buy or change.

We suggest it for a bedroom or a living room. On a bedside table it gives gentle light for reading or winding down, and on a side table, console or deep windowsill it adds a low pool of light that makes a room feel settled in the evening. The frame is open on every side and looks good from any angle, so it can sit in the middle of a coffee table as happily as against a wall. It runs on mains power at 230V. It is rated IP20, so it is for dry rooms indoors only.

The lamp is made from aluminium, teak wood, ribbon and polycarbonate. The teak gives the frame natural grain and warmth, and alongside the Brown finish of the structure and the soft pleats of the White Translucent Ribbon it makes a quiet, natural pairing that sits well with wooden furniture, linen and stone.
