Kallu 60 x 40cm Wool & Cotton Cushion Cover - Natural

A rectangular cushion cover 60 x 40cm in the same handloom wool and cotton as the square Kallu, with a single blue-grey stripe. On this one the stripe runs the short way across the rectangle and sits close to the middle, so it divides the face into two rather than sitting off to one side. The ground is a natural oatmeal, coarse enough that the separate threads show, and the edge is a plain seam with no border.

A rectangle at 60 x 40 sits in front of square cushions rather than among them, and it takes the small of the back when someone leans into a sofa. Stood on its long edge the stripe reads as an upright line, and a pair sits well across the front of a pale sofa. This is the cover on its own.

The cover is woven on a traditional Indian handloom from a blend of wool and cotton, and the stripe is woven in rather than printed, so it carries the same grain as the ground. Kallu also runs as a 50 x 50cm square in the same natural, where the stripe sits about a third of the way in rather than down the middle, and as an occasional chair in the same wool and cotton.

How do I look after it?

Washing varies by fabric: some are washable and others are spot clean only. Lift a spill with an absorbent tissue, then blot the area with a sponge or a folded towel moistened in lukewarm water, and dry it by blowing warm air across the surface so it does not water mark. Larger stains are a job for a professional. The covers are tested for colourfastness.
