Kallso Marble and Glass Dome - Grey

The Kallso is a clear glass dome on a round grey marble base, 30.5cm across and 19cm tall overall. The dome rises almost straight from the rim, turns over a soft shoulder and finishes in a solid glass knob drawn out on a short neck. The glass is plain and smooth, with a faint waver in it that shows where the light runs across the surface. The marble plate is flat with a squared edge, and the dome stands inside its rim so a band of stone is left showing all the way round.

A plate 30.5cm across takes a whole cake, a round of cheese with a knife beside it, or a morning of baking stacked up. What is on the plate stays covered and in sight at once. Marble is cold and stays cold, and the base works as a platter on its own for cakes or cheese. At 19cm tall the whole thing sits low enough on a table to see across.

The dome is glass and the base is marble. Marble is cut from a block, so the run of the veining and the balance of pale grey against charcoal differ from one base to the next, and no two bases are alike. The stone is porous. Both parts are food safe. The Kallso range also holds a marble butter dish.

Does the marble stain?

Marble is porous and stains easily. Hand wash it and do not leave it to soak.

How do I look after it?

Hand wash the glass dome only, with a mild dish soap, and rinse it in clean water. Hand wash the marble too, with a mild dish soap, and do not scrub it, which can scratch the surface. Handle both with care.

Will the marble look the same on every one?

Not exactly. Every base is cut from a different part of the block, so the veining and the depth of grey vary.
