Kagitha Small 3 Light Recycled Glass Chandelier - Clear

The Kagitha in the small size hangs rows of round glass discs from a tiered brass frame. Three rings of decreasing width stack one under the next, and each carries a row of discs hooked on individually so they overlap and swing free. The discs are clear and pressed rather than cut, each with its own swirl of ripples. It measures 40cm across and 22cm deep, and hangs from a brass chain.

Forty centimetres is the size that fits an ordinary room. Where the large needs a dining table under it, this one works over a smaller table, in a hall or in a bedroom, and at 22cm deep it does not drop far. The effect is the same in miniature: three bulbs inside the frame, and every disc catching and passing on a piece of the light so the fitting glitters rather than glaring. It takes three E14 bulbs up to 40W each and it is dimmable. The flex runs 1.5m.

The glass is recycled: waste glass is collected, washed, crushed, melted and then pressed into simple moulds disc by disc, so no two are identical. The frame is iron finished in brass. At 9.93kg it is still heavy for a fitting this size, so the fixing wants to be into a joist. The Kagitha range also holds a larger version in antique brass. Bulbs are not included.

How is it different from the large?

Three tiers instead of four, 40cm across instead of 56cm, and 22cm deep instead of 31cm. The small fits an ordinary room where the large wants a dining table under it.

How heavy is it?

9.93kg. That is heavy for a fitting 40cm across, so fix it into a joist rather than into plasterboard.

How many bulbs does it take?

Three, all E14 and none over 40W.

Will every disc look the same?

No. Each is pressed individually from recycled glass, so the ripples and the clarity differ across the fitting.

How do I clean it?

Switch it off and let the bulbs cool, then a soft dry cloth over a few discs at a time. They hang loose, so work gently.
