Kagitha 3 Light Recycled Glass Chandelier - Antique Brass

The Kagitha hangs scores of round glass discs from a tiered brass frame. Four rings of decreasing width are stacked one under the next, and from each one a row of discs is hooked on individually so they overlap like scales and swing free. Every disc is pressed rather than cut, so each carries its own swirl of ripples and none is quite flat. The frame is brass and the whole fitting measures 56cm across and 31cm deep, hanging from a brass chain.

Discs this size do not diffuse light so much as multiply it: three bulbs sit inside the frame and every disc catches and passes on a piece of what they give, so the fitting reads as a body of glints rather than as a single bright source. That is a dining table or a hall effect, seen from below and from the side, and it needs a table under it rather than a walkway. It takes three E14 bulbs up to 40W each and it is dimmable, which matters when the light source is multiplied this many times. The flex runs 1.5m and it is rated IP20.

The glass is recycled and pressed disc by disc, so no two catch the light alike, and the frame is steel finished in brass. At 14.3kg this is by some way the heaviest fitting in this set, so the ceiling fixing has to be into a joist or a mount rated for it. The Kagitha range also holds a smaller clear version. Bulbs are not included.

How heavy is it?

14.3kg, which is far heavier than most ceiling fittings. Fix it into a joist or a mount rated for that weight, and check an existing rose before hanging it.

How many bulbs does it take?

Three, all E14 and none over 40W. They sit inside the frame where the discs pick up and pass on their light.

Will every disc look the same?

No. Each is pressed individually, so the ripples differ from disc to disc and no two catch the light in quite the same way.

How do I clean it?

Switch it off and let the bulbs cool, then a soft dry cloth over the discs a few at a time. They hang loose on hooks, so work gently rather than sweeping across them.
