Description

A scented candle with three wicks, poured into a hand blown recycled glass vessel 13cm tall and 13cm across. The glass is straight sided and flares a little at the rim. Its surface has been worn back to a mottle that reads silver under one light and gold under another, and a band of fine vertical striations runs round the lower half. The three cotton wicks stand in a triangle in the pale wax.

The vessel is opaque, so the light comes off the wax and the rim rather than through the walls of the glass. It stands on its own base without a holder, and at 13cm across it takes the middle of a hearth, a low table or a wide windowsill rather than a corner of one. The scent is built on eucalyptus and fir over spiced juniper and black pepper. The same fragrance is made as a one wick candle in a 9cm vessel and as a reed diffuser.

The wax is a blend of sustainably sourced European soy and natural beeswax, finished with cotton wicks and hand poured and packed in the UK. The fragrance is blended by a family owned fragrance house and carries essential oils of black pepper, galbanum, patchouli, pine needle, eucalyptus, juniper berry and aniseed. The vessel is blown by hand from recycled glass in India, so the shape and the run of the mottling differ from one to the next, and it is intended to be kept and used again once the candle has burned through.

Frequently Asked

How long does it burn?

Approximately 75 to 80 hours.

What is the wax made from?

A blend of sustainably sourced European soy wax and natural beeswax, with cotton wicks.

What does it smell of?

Woody eucalyptus and fir over spiced juniper and black pepper. The blend carries essential oils of black pepper, galbanum, patchouli, pine needle, eucalyptus, juniper berry and aniseed.

How should the first burn be handled?

Let the wax melt out to both sides of the vessel the first time it is lit. Trim the wicks to 5mm before each burn, burn it for at least two hours but no more than four at a time, and stop when about 10mm of candle is left.

Can the vessel be used again?

Yes. Put it in the freezer for six to twelve hours, until the wax has shrunk away from the glass and can be knocked out gently, then wipe the inside with a damp cloth. Do not leave it to soak, and keep abrasive cloths and harsh detergents away from it.

Where should it stand while it is lit?

On a stable, heat protected surface, away from draughts and out of reach of children and pets and anything flammable. Do not move it while it is burning, and never leave it unattended.
