Description

James is a small round recessed downlight in a white finish, made to sit flat against the ceiling with its light set well back inside the trim. It has an integrated LED, so there is no bulb to buy or change; it draws 5.2W and gives 462 lumens through a 24° beam. That is a fairly narrow beam, so it throws a defined pool of light rather than washing a whole room. The trim is 6.3cm across and covers a 4.3cm cut-out in the ceiling, while the body behind it is 3.6cm across and 10cm tall.

Rated IP44, James can go in a bathroom or a kitchen as well as the drier rooms around the home. A CRI of 90 means colours and skin tones look natural under it, which helps by a bathroom mirror or over a kitchen worktop where you want to see things as they really are. The narrow beam suits picking out a picture, a shelf or a worktop, and a row of them along a ceiling gives clear, even light without the fittings drawing the eye. It comes in two colour temperatures, 2700K or 3000K: the 2700K version gives a warmer, softer white for relaxed rooms, and the 3000K version a slightly crisper warm white that suits kitchens and work areas.

The white finish keeps the trim quiet against a white ceiling, so the eye goes to the light rather than the fitting. James is powered from the mains and wired in by an electrician, so it is for a qualified electrician to install.
