Description

The Jahala is a wall-hung photo frame in cast aluminium, 36cm by 29cm and 2cm deep. The frame is a broad flat band with softly rounded outer corners, and the casting has left the whole face granular and pitted, so light breaks across it instead of running along a smooth edge. The antique brass finish sits warm and dull rather than bright, deeper in the pits and lighter on the raised ground between them. The inner edge of the band is square and plain, with no moulding and no step.

It hangs either way up, so the same frame takes a picture in portrait or in landscape, and it is made to hang on a wall rather than to stand. It hangs on its own or in a group with the other sizes in the range, and a pressed flower goes behind the glass as readily as anything else. The frame weighs 2.16kg.

The frame is cast aluminium and the front is glass. Because it is cast rather than milled, the grain of the surface and the weight of the pitting fall differently on every frame. The range runs to three sizes, all in the same antique brass, and this is the largest of them.

Frequently Asked

How big is the frame?

36cm by 29cm and 2cm deep.

Can it hang in portrait and in landscape?

Yes. It hangs either way up.

What is it made from?

Cast aluminium with a glass front, finished in antique brass.

Will every frame look the same?

Not exactly. It is cast, so the pitting across the face falls differently on every frame.

How do I look after it?

Wipe it regularly with a soft, dry cloth so dust and dirt do not build up, and use a microfibre cloth in a circular motion on the glass.
