Itan Tiered Recycled Glass Pendant Light - Amber

The Itan is a tiered pendant hung with flat amber glass paddles, each a long rounded slab pinned at its top to one of two brass rings. The upper ring carries a short course and the lower ring a longer one, so the paddles overlap and step down in two tiers. It stands 44.5cm tall and 30.5cm across, and it hangs from a rust coloured braided flex on a brass ring.

Light passes between the paddles as well as through them, so the fitting throws a broken pattern onto the ceiling and the walls around it as well as lighting the space below. That suits a stairwell, a hallway or a spot above a table where the pattern lands on something. It takes one E27 bulb up to 40W and it is dimmable. The flex runs 150cm. At 7.71kg the fixing must go into a joist or a mount rated for the weight.

The paddles are recycled glass, cast flat and left with the ripples and cloudiness of the process, so the amber runs deeper in some than others. The rings and pins are brass. It is rated IP20, for dry indoor rooms. Bulbs are not included.

What ceiling height does a tiered pendant need?

The glass alone is 44.5cm deep before the chain starts, and you have up to 1.5m of flex above that. Over a table you can afford the drop; anywhere people walk, measure to the lowest lozenge and not to the frame.

How do I clean between the tiers?

Turn it off and let it cool, then wipe each lozenge with a dry microfibre cloth in a circular motion. Keep harsh chemicals and abrasive cleaners away from it.

Is it dimmable?

Yes, but you'll need a dimmable E27 bulb as well as a dimmer switch. One without the other won't do it.

Will one light a whole room?

No. The glass is 30.5cm across and it runs a single 40W bulb, so it lights what sits beneath it. In a larger room, treat it as one light among several.
