Description

The Iswa is a dining chair 84cm high, built on a frame of slim black iron tube with four splayed legs and two uprights that run in a single bend from the back legs up to the top of the back. The back panel is woven cane in an open hexagonal weave, set in a mango wood surround and held by flat iron straps with round rivets across the top and the bottom. The seat is tan leather, padded and slightly domed.

The seat sits 48cm off the floor and measures 40cm across and 36cm deep, and the chair is 44cm wide and 48.5cm deep overall, so it takes up little more than the seat and pushes right in under a table. The cane back is open, so light passes through it and the chair does not close off a window or a view down a room the way a solid back does. It belongs at a desk as readily as at a dining table. It weighs 6.1kg.

The frame is iron under a black finish and the seat is buffalo leather. The back brings together woven cane and a mango wood surround. The Iswa is made as a dining chair in tan, green and black, and as a counter chair in tan, rich green and aged black.
