Description
The Iswa is a dining chair built on a black iron frame, with a caned back panel and a padded seat in dark green goat leather. The frame is plain round tube: four legs that splay slightly towards the floor, and two rear uprights that run on past the seat to carry the back. That back is a landscape rectangle of pale wood framing an open hexagonal cane weave, and it sits clear of the seat with a gap between the two. The leather is a deep olive green, soft at the front edge and creased with the grain of the hide.
It stands 84cm to the top of the back and 44cm across, with the seat 48cm from the floor, 40cm wide and 36cm deep. At 48.5cm front to back it takes up little more floor than the table edge it sits under. The cane is an open weave rather than a solid panel, so light and the wall behind carry through it, and a run of four or six down one side of a table does not read as a solid line. The seat is padded rather than a flat pan, and the pad overhangs the frame a little at the front.
The frame is iron and the seat is goat leather, with cane woven into a wood surround for the back. The black on the frame is not an even coat and runs lighter and browner in patches down the legs. Leather takes its colour and its creasing from the hide it is cut from, so no two seats are marked the same way. The Iswa range holds this dining chair in green, tan and black, and a counter stool in three leather colours of its own.

Frequently Asked
How high is the seat?
48cm from the floor. The seat itself is 40cm wide and 36cm deep.
What is the seat covered in?
Goat leather, padded rather than stretched flat over a pan. The green is a deep olive and every hide is marked differently.
Is the back panel real cane?
Yes, woven in an open hexagonal pattern and set into a wood surround. You can see through it.
How much room does one take at a table?
44cm across and 48.5cm from front to back. The chair weighs 6kg.
How do I look after the leather?
Wipe it with a soft, dry cloth, and keep chemicals and household cleaners away from it. To stop the hide drying out and cracking, feed it now and then with a specialist leather product, petroleum jelly or flax oil.
