Description
The Israj is a pedestal side table, 57cm tall, with a round marble top 25cm across on a sandcast aluminium base. The base is one piece: a bulbous foot that swells out at floor level, a long stem tapering up from it, and a small disc under the top. The marble is a warm sandy stone shot through with darker flecks, cut as a thick slab and left rough around the edge, where the top face is smooth.
At 25cm across, the top holds a glass and a book and not much more. The stem is narrow for most of its height and the foot is smaller than the top, so the table pushes in close to a chair arm without the base meeting the chair leg. At 57cm it is tall for a side table and puts the top at about the height of a chair back rather than an armrest.
The top is marble and the base is aluminium under an aged black finish. The base is sandcast, so the molten metal is poured into a mould packed from sand and left to cool there, and the finely pitted surface that leaves is visible across both the foot and the stem. The marble is natural stone, so the tone of the sand and the run of the darker flecks differ on every top.

Frequently Asked
How big is the top?
25cm across, and the table stands 57cm tall.
What is it made from?
A marble top on a sandcast aluminium base.
Will every top look the same?
Not exactly. Every top is cut from natural stone, so the tone and the flecking differ.
Can I stand a hot drink on it?
Not directly. Heat will damage the surface, so use a coaster or a mat.
How do I look after it?
Wipe it regularly with a soft dry cloth, and occasionally with a soft damp cloth and a mild detergent solution, drying it straight away so it does not watermark. Keep harsh chemicals, solvents and silicone polish away from it, and take care with cutlery and pens, which will score the surface.
