Description

The Islura is a swan neck wall light in brass and glass. A slim brass arm rises from a round backplate, curves over and drops to hold a wide, shallow shade, with a glass cover beneath it around a single bulb. It is 32cm tall and 32cm wide, and it reaches 43cm out from the wall, so its light falls down and forward into the room rather than flat against the plaster. It comes in Antique Silver, Antique Brass, Natural Brass, Matt Black, White, Polished Brass or Satin Brass, with Clear or Opal glass; the Matt Black and White versions have a white inner shade.

Its IP65 rating means it suits a bathroom, where it works well beside a mirror or over a basin. It is just as at home in a bedroom, a dining room or a living room. The swan neck holds the shade clear of the wall, so it makes a good reading light over a bedside table, and a pair sits neatly either side of a fireplace, a sideboard or a bed. The metal finishes give it a working, industrial character that suits a period house, a cottage or a plain modern room. Matt Black, RAL 9005, and White, RAL 9010, are painted for a quieter look. With Clear glass the bulb stays on show, while Opal is a milky white glass that hides it.

Every Islura is made to order for you in Ireland, in brass with a glass cover. Bulbs are sold separately: it takes one E27 bulb, up to 6.5W per bulb (LED). The maker guarantees the fittings it makes for five years from the date of purchase; bulbs are not covered. It is wired in to the mains, so it is for a qualified electrician to install, and it is worth having your bulb ready for the day.
