Description

The Knightsbridge LDGL5 is a 68mm diameter IP65-rated recessed ground light housing an integrated 5W COB LED, built into a 304 stainless steel bezel with an aluminium body and plastic mounting sleeve. The fitting delivers 240 lumens of 3000K warm white light through a clear diffuser at a 50-degree beam angle, suitable for path lighting, driveway markers and deck uplighting.

Designed for outdoor installation in tarmac, concrete, paving and timber decking, the fitting recesses 80mm below ground level with only a 4mm projection above the surface once installed. The IP65 rating protects against water jets and dust ingress, making it suitable for open gardens, driveways and coastal areas. When installed with the supplied mounting sleeve in tarmac or concrete, the fitting is drive-over rated to 800kg at a maximum speed of 5mph, allowing installation at driveway edges and turning circles without risk of damage from car wheels.

The 304 stainless steel bezel resists corrosion in outdoor conditions and maintains its brushed finish through exposure to rain, frost and UV. The fitting comes with 2m of outdoor-rated flex cable attached, giving flexibility on positioning relative to the transformer or junction box. The COB LED runs on 230V mains and is non-dimmable, with a rated lifespan of 50,000 hours (L70B50) and a CRI of >80 for natural colour rendering.

Can this be driven over?

Yes, when installed with the supplied mounting sleeve in tarmac or concrete, the fitting is rated for vehicle loads up to 800kg at a maximum speed of 5mph. This makes it suitable for driveway edges, turning circles and parking areas. It is not rated for higher-speed traffic or heavier vehicles.

What installation depth is required?

The fitting requires an 80mm recess depth below the finished surface, with a 55mm cut-out diameter (60mm when using the mounting sleeve). Only 4mm of the bezel projects above ground level once installed.

Is the LED replaceable?

No. The 5W COB LED is integrated into the fitting and cannot be replaced. The LED is rated for 50,000 hours (L70B50), which equates to approximately 11 years of operation at 12 hours per night.

What spacing is recommended for path lighting?

For a continuous path of light at ground level, space the fittings 1.5-2m apart along the path edge. For marker lighting only, 3-4m spacing is sufficient. The 50-degree beam angle produces a relatively narrow pool of light centred on the fitting.
