Indu 8 x 10 Mango Wood Photo Frame - Natural

A solid mango wood picture frame for an 8 by 10 inch image. The frame is a plain flat rectangle with no moulding worked into it. A single sheet of glass sits in the opening, held by small dark metal catches on the inside edges, and slides out upwards past the top rail. The wood is pale and left its own colour, with the grain running the length of each of the four sections.

The picture goes in from the top: slide the glass out, arrange and attach the piece, then slide the glass back into position. That suits pressed flowers, a child drawing or a page taken out of a book as readily as a print, and four of these will hang together on one wall. The frame hangs either portrait or landscape, so a group of them can be set out both ways.

The frame is solid mango wood with glass. Mango is grown first for its fruit and harvested over a number of years; the trees are cut only once they stop bearing, so the timber comes out of the fruit farming and selling it gives the farmers a second income. The wood is left natural, so the grain and the tone differ from frame to frame. The Indu range runs to two larger frames of 36 by 29cm and 50 by 35cm, a pair of standing frames and two frames in a dark ash finish.

How does the picture go in?

The glass slides out from the top, past the top rail and the catches on the inside edges. Attach the piece, then slide the glass back.

Can it hang portrait or landscape?

Both. It is made to go either way up.

Yes.

How do I look after it?

Wipe it over with a soft dry cloth so dust and dirt do not build up, and use a microfibre cloth in a circular motion on the glass. An edible oil such as olive or walnut rubbed into the wood with a cloth will protect it, though it will darken the tone.
