Description

A wide, shallow bowl 23cm across and 4.6cm high, with a broad flat rim and a well dropped into the middle of it. The ground is cream. Two rings of indigo drops are painted on: small ones packed round the flat of the rim with their points turned outwards, and larger ones down the inside wall of the well with their points turned in. The base of the well and the whole outside are left plain.

The well holds 300ml and the rim around it stays clear, so the bowl can be carried by the edge with a full serving in it. At 23cm across it takes the place a dinner plate would take on a laid table. Indigo Drop runs to dinner plates, side plates, cereal bowls, serving bowls, mugs, jugs and a teapot in the same pattern.

The bowl is thrown on a traditional potters wheel and the drops are painted on one at a time, so their size and their spacing shift round the rim and no two bowls carry the same ring. The body is white clay and the decoration is a water based paint. It is dishwasher safe and food safe.

Frequently Asked

How big is the bowl?

23cm across and 4.6cm high, with a well that holds 300ml.

Is it dishwasher safe?

Yes, and it is food safe.

How is the pattern made?

By hand. The bowl is thrown on a traditional potters wheel and the indigo drops are painted on one at a time.

Will every bowl look the same?

No. The drops are painted by hand, so their size and their spacing shift round the rim from one bowl to the next.

How should it be looked after?

Wash it after every use to prevent staining, using a mild detergent, and do not leave it to soak. Handle it carefully to prevent chipping.
