Description

The Indali is a rectangular dining table in mango wood, 180cm long by 90cm deep and 76cm high. The top is a framed panel, a broad border of solid timber running round a planked centre, with the grain and the working marks of the wood left open across the surface. It stands on two trestle ends, each a pair of legs splayed out below a cross member, joined the length of the table by one low stretcher. The top overhangs the base by 8cm at either end.

It seats four to six. The two trestle ends stand 164cm apart, so chairs go anywhere along the long sides without meeting a leg, and the 8cm overhang leaves somewhere for a chair to be pulled up at the ends as well. The underside of the top sits about 73cm from the floor. At 180cm by 90cm the table needs room on all four sides for chairs to push back, and at 60kg it is one to set in place and leave rather than move about.

The table is solid mango wood, left in its natural tone. Mango is grown first for its fruit and the trees are felled only once they have stopped bearing, which is what puts the timber into use at all. Every top is made from boards cut and laid by hand, so the grain, the colour and the pattern across the panel differ from table to table. The Indali dining table is also made in a large and an extra large, and in two round sizes.

Frequently Asked

How many does it seat?

Four to six.

How big is it?

180cm long, 90cm deep and 76cm high.

Where do the legs sit?

The two trestle ends are 164cm apart and the top overhangs each end of the base by 8cm. The underside of the top is about 73cm from the floor.

How heavy is it?

60kg.

How do I look after it?

Blot any spillage straight away with a dry cloth, because the finish will mark where liquid is left standing, and keep chemical cleaners off it. An edible oil such as olive or walnut rubbed into the surface will feed and protect the wood, though it will darken the tone.
