Description

A dining table 220cm long, 90cm deep and 76cm tall, with a plank top in mango wood carried on two trestle ends. Each end is an A-frame: a pair of legs splayed out to the floor and meeting under the top, with a short cross-piece low down between them. A single stretcher runs the whole length of the table between the two frames. The saw texture is left on the wood, and the grain and the knots show through the natural tone.

The legs are set well in from the ends of the top, so a chair can pull in at the end as well as along the sides. The underside of the top sits about 73cm from the floor, which is the figure to measure a dining chair against. At 78kg the table takes two people to move.

The table is mango wood throughout. Mango is grown first for its fruit and the trees are cut for timber only once they have stopped bearing, which is what makes the wood available. The Indali dining table is made in three lengths, this one at 220cm alongside a 180cm and a 285cm, and the range also holds a round dining table and a bed.
