Description

The Imoma is an overmantel mirror with an iron frame in a brass finish, 100cm wide and 80cm tall. The top is an arch, the base and sides are straight, and flat bars divide the mirrored glass into panes so the whole reads as an arched window. A small arch sits at the centre of the crown with a curved pane to either side, and three rectangular panes run below them, separated by two uprights. The bars carry the same brass finish as the frame, uneven and darker where it has settled into the hollows.

An overmantel mirror is wider than it is tall, and at 100cm across this one is made to sit above a mantelpiece with the arch clear of the chimney breast. Each pane throws back the room at a slightly different angle rather than returning one flat reflection. At 14.9kg it needs fastening securely to the wall rather than hanging from a picture hook.

The frame and the bars are iron and the panes are mirrored glass. The brass is a finish over the iron rather than the metal itself, so the colour varies across the frame and sits deeper along the bars and in the corners. The Imoma is also made as a full length arch mirror in the same brass, and in this overmantel shape in black.
