Description

The Imoma is an arched wall mirror 100cm wide and 80cm tall, framed and divided in black iron. Flat bars break the glass into seven panes: three rectangles across the base, a small arch centred above them, and three curved segments fanning out from that arch to the rim. The iron is worked by hand and the bars vary a little in width across the face. The frame is 3cm deep.

At 100cm across and 80cm high the mirror is wider than it is tall, which is the proportion that suits a chimney breast. Hung above a mantelpiece it fills the width without running up into the ceiling line, and it does the same work above a console table, a sideboard or a low run of shelving. It weighs 13.5kg and hangs from a keyhole fitting on the back, which needs a secure fixing into the wall.

The frame is iron and the panes are mirror glass. The bars sit on the face of the glass rather than flush into it, so each division stands slightly proud and lays its own line across the reflection. Imoma is made in black and in brass, and the brass is made both at this width and as a full length arch.

Frequently Asked

How is it fixed to the wall?

There is a keyhole attachment on the back. The mirror weighs 13.5kg, so the fixing has to go into something that will carry that weight.

What shape is it?

A flat-bottomed arch, wider than it is tall at 100 by 80cm. The glass is divided into seven panes: three rectangles along the bottom, a small arch above them, and three curved segments around that.

Is it made in another finish?

Yes. The same overmantle arch is made in brass, and there is a full length arch in brass as well.

How do I look after it?

Wipe it regularly with a microfibre cloth in a circular motion. Do not use harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners.
