Description

The Ilmerton is a single hoop pendant in brushed gold plate, fitted with an opal ribbed acrylic diffuser that runs the full circle of the ring. The ribbing breaks up the light so the ring reads as a soft even band rather than a hard line, and the opal finish keeps the LED source hidden behind it. The hoop measures 800mm in diameter and the drop adjusts between 450mm and 1570mm, which covers most ceiling heights from a standard room to a tall open plan space. The LED is built into the fitting, so there is no bulb to fit or replace, and the light is dimmable when wired to a compatible dimmer.

A wide horizontal ring works best where it can be read as a shape, so we would put the Ilmerton above a dining table, a long kitchen island or a coffee table in a double height room. At 800mm across it is a generous size and needs the floor space to match, since over a narrow table it will overhang. The weight is only 2.8kg, which makes it one of the easier large pendants to put up, and it suits people who want a quiet modern ceiling light rather than anything ornate.

Construction is metal for the hoop and suspension with the acrylic diffuser held inside, and the fitting is double insulated, so no earth connection is needed at the ceiling rose. The brushed gold plate has a warm low sheen that sits well with pale timber, off white walls and stone worktops. To clean, switch the light off at the wall and let it cool, then run a dry microfibre cloth around the diffuser.
