Description

The Ilcoso is a lidded storage pot in recycled glass, 10cm tall and 10cm across. The body is a squat cylinder that steps in at the shoulder to a short plain neck, and the lid is a heavy disc with a rounded edge that overhangs the neck and comes to rest on the shoulder. The glass is a deep green, reading near black where the wall thickens and much paler where light passes straight through it. The hammering shows as a close, fine dimpling over the body, and the top of the lid carries the same working turned in a radiating pattern.

At 10cm each way the pot holds cosmetic pads and the other small things that otherwise sit loose on a basin surround or a dressing table. The lid rests on the neck rather than sealing into it, and there is no rubber seal, so it is not an airtight jar.

The glass is recycled, and the making runs the same way each time: waste glass washed of its impurities, crushed, melted and moulded, then worked over with traditional tools to raise the dimpling. Every pot takes that working differently. The Ilcoso range runs in green, amber and clear, and a dispenser and a dish go with the pot in each of the three.
