Description

The Ilcoso storage pot is a round jar of recycled glass, 10cm tall and 10cm across, in a deep amber that reads brown on a shelf and turns red where light passes through it. The body is hammered all over, so the surface breaks into shallow facets and the light catches it in broken streaks rather than straight ones. The shoulder steps in to a short neck, and a glass lid sits over that, domed on top and worked with a swirl at its centre.

It holds 450ml, which makes it a jar for cotton pads, cotton buds, bath salts or whatever else otherwise sits loose beside a basin. The lid rests on top of the base and there is no rubber seal, so it is not airtight. At 10cm across and 10cm tall it takes very little room on a basin, a shelf or a dressing table, and a bathroom windowsill takes it too.

The glass is recycled and so is the lid. The hammering runs over the body only: the lid is left smooth, so the two carry the light quite differently in the same position. Ilcoso runs in amber, green and clear, and each colour is made as this pot, a dish and a dispenser.
