Ilcoso Recycled Hammered Glass Soap Dispenser - Green

The Ilcoso is a soap dispenser in recycled glass, 13cm tall and 7cm across. The green runs unevenly through the wall of the bottle, reading almost black where the glass doubles back on itself and pale olive where the light passes straight through. The surface is hammered into shallow facets that break the reflection into patches rather than holding it in one line. The pump is stainless steel in an antique brass finish, with a stepped collar seated on the rim of the bottle and a slim spout curving away from it.

At 13cm tall and 7cm across it takes only a small circle of a basin surround, and the pump head stands high enough to reach from above without the bottle needing to be held. A downstairs loo, a shelf above a basin or the corner of a wide surround all suit it, and at this size it shares a narrow ledge with one other piece rather than filling it. It is made to be refilled rather than replaced.

The bottle is recycled glass and the pump is stainless steel. Waste glass is collected and washed to remove impurities, then crushed and melted down before it is moulded and hammered with traditional tools, so the facets fall differently on every bottle and the depth of the green varies through the wall. The Ilcoso range runs in amber and clear as well as green, and holds a storage pot and a dish in each of the three.
