Description

The Ilcoso soap dispenser is a short cylinder of recycled glass, 13cm tall and 7cm across, in a deep amber that reads brown on a shelf and turns red where light comes through it from behind. The whole body is hammered, so the surface breaks into shallow facets instead of lying flat. A brass pump sits in the neck, with a plain collar and a spout that curves down over the glass.

It holds 450ml and is made to be refilled rather than thrown away. At 13cm tall it stands beside a basin or under a mirror without reaching a shelf above it, and the 7cm footprint leaves room on a narrow sill. On a bathroom windowsill the light comes through the glass from behind. A downstairs cloakroom suits it as well.

The glass is recycled and the pump is brass. The hammering is irregular rather than even, so the facets catch the light in broken streaks down the body rather than in even bands. Ilcoso runs in amber, green and clear, and each colour is made as this dispenser, a dish and a storage pot.
