Description

The Ilcoso is a soap dish blown from recycled glass, 14cm long, 8cm across and 2cm deep. The shape is a flattened oval with straight sides and rounded ends, and the walls are thin enough to see straight through. A shallow hammered ripple runs over the whole surface, so the light breaks into bands across it rather than reflecting evenly, and the glass reads clear with a faint green where it runs thickest.

At 14 by 8cm the dish takes a standard bar with room around it, and the 2cm wall holds the run-off rather than letting it onto the shelf. Because the glass is clear the surface underneath shows through the base, so it takes the colour of whatever it stands on.

Each one is blown by hand from recycled clear glass and finished with the hammered texture, so the ripple falls differently on every dish and the outline is never quite the same oval twice. The Ilcoso range also holds a dispenser and a storage pot in the same glass, and this dish is made in amber and in green as well as clear.

Frequently Asked

How big is it?

14cm long, 8cm across and 2cm deep.

What is it made from?

Recycled glass, blown by hand.

Will every one look the same?

No. The hammered surface is worked by hand, so the ripple and the line of the rim vary from one to the next.

Does it come in other colours?

Yes. The same dish is made in amber and in green.

How do I look after it?

Wash it with a mild detergent and do not leave it to soak. Handle it with care.
