Description

The Ilaa in this size is a rectangle, 60cm by 40cm, woven in wool. The cream stripe runs the long way across the face, a fine raised line every few millimetres over a warm sand ground, and between the lines the twill of the weave shows as a shallow diagonal. The edges are plain, with no piping and no trim.

A 60 by 40cm cover is a lumbar cushion, and it goes in front of the square cushions at the back of a sofa rather than behind them. It goes exactly that way on a sofa, with the 50cm square Ilaa standing up behind it. In an armchair it fills the hollow at the base of the back.

The yarn is dyed in Italy and woven in Portugal on small antique looms, then carded once it is off the loom so the surface lifts. The stripe stands proud of that raised ground rather than lying flat in it. The cover comes on its own and no inner is included.

Frequently Asked

What size is this one?

60cm by 40cm. Ilaa is also made as a 50cm square.

Does it come with an inner?

No. The cover is sold on its own.

Is it all wool?

Yes, wool throughout, dyed as yarn in Italy and woven in Portugal.

Will the colour run or fade?

Each cover is tested for colourfastness.

What do I do about a spill?

Check the label on the cover first. Then lift the liquid with an absorbent tissue, blot with a sponge or a folded towel wrung out in lukewarm water, and dry the patch with warm air from a hair dryer so it does not leave a water mark. Send anything larger or more stubborn to a professional.
