Description

The Ikowe is a flat woven rug, 150 x 240cm, made from recycled PET and printed with a Persian style design. A lozenge medallion sits at the centre with a pendant above and below it, cornerpieces fill the four corners, and a scrolling field runs between them inside a patterned border. The reds run from terracotta through to a faded coral, with ivory and sage picking out the drawing.

At 150 by 240cm this goes under a sofa and a low table together rather than under one of them, with the front feet of the sofa standing on it. It is 1cm thick, so it runs under a door without catching. The rug weighs 5.36kg, which is light for its size and easy enough to lift and move on your own.

The rug is recycled polyester. Discarded plastic bottles are broken down into fine PET fibres and woven into the base, and the pattern is hand screen printed onto the surface afterwards. Ikowe is made in this one size.
